Houston Is Hosting 7 World Cup Matches

The 2026 FIFA World Cup comes to Houston's NRG Stadium (renamed Houston Stadium for the tournament) from June 14 through July 4. Seven matches featuring Germany, Portugal, the Netherlands, and more — including a Round of 16 on Independence Day. The District at Hogg Palace puts you in downtown Houston with direct METRORail access to the stadium, full kitchens to cook your own meals during an expensive event week, and suites big enough for your whole group.

This is the biggest international sporting event Houston has ever hosted. Hotel rooms across the city will fill fast — especially for the Portugal and Germany matches. Book early.

Why Downtown Houston

NRG Stadium is in southwest Houston, about 20 minutes by METRORail from downtown. Many World Cup hotels will be in the NRG area — convenient for match day, but surrounded by parking lots and highway interchanges with little to do between games.

Stay downtown and you get the best of both worlds: direct rail access to the stadium plus walkable restaurants, bars, entertainment, and the FIFA Fan Festival in EaDo. Between matches, you're in the heart of Houston's Theater District with Market Square Park across the street, the Downtown Aquarium 10 minutes away, and nightlife at your doorstep. After the final whistle, take the train back to a neighborhood that's actually alive.

For International Visitors

Traveling from overseas? Our suites make extended tournament stays comfortable. Full kitchens mean you can cook familiar meals from home, store match-day snacks, and avoid eating every meal at Houston prices. In-unit washers and dryers mean you can pack light for a two or three-week trip. And our 55" Roku smart TVs let you stream matches happening in other cities on your own schedule.

Houston is one of the most diverse cities in the US — you'll find restaurants serving cuisine from nearly every country represented in the tournament within walking or short driving distance.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get from the hotel to NRG Stadium?

METRORail Red Line from Preston station (a short walk from the hotel) runs directly to NRG Park station. During the World Cup, trains run every 6 minutes. The ride takes about 20 minutes. Do not drive — parking near the stadium will be extremely limited and expensive.

How early should I leave for a match?

Plan to be at the METRORail station at least 2 hours before kickoff. FIFA security screenings take time, and trains will be packed closer to match time. Arriving early also lets you soak in the pre-match atmosphere at the stadium.

What is the FIFA Fan Festival?

Houston's FIFA Fan Festival will be in the EaDo (East Downtown) neighborhood with big screens, live entertainment, food, and the atmosphere of the tournament — even without a match ticket. It's accessible via the Green/Purple METRORail lines at EaDo/Stadium station. Note: this is a different rail line than the stadium, so allow extra time for the transfer at Main Street Square station.

Do all suites have full kitchens?

Yes. Every suite has a full kitchen with a full-size refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, and complete cookware and dishes. Cook your own meals and save significantly during what will be an expensive event week.

Can I watch other World Cup matches in my room?

Yes. Every suite has a 55" smart TV with Roku streaming. Log into your own accounts to watch matches happening in other host cities.

Is the stadium air-conditioned?

Yes. NRG Stadium (Houston Stadium during the tournament) has a retractable roof and full air conditioning. It will be comfortable inside regardless of Houston's summer heat, which averages 93°F in June and July.

Is there parking at the hotel?

Yes. Gated covered garage on-site for $25/night. Park your car when you arrive and take METRORail to the matches. Parking details →

Can I book for a group?

Yes. Our Two Bedroom Suite (1,600 sq ft) sleeps 6 with a king bed, queen bed, and sleeper sofa. For larger groups, contact sales@districthoggpalace.com for multi-room rates.

Is the hotel pet friendly?

Yes. We welcome pets with a deposit. Contact the front desk at 713-225-5638 for details.
